Agronomy Sales Manager - Philip, who has been with Southern States for nearly 10 years, was raised on a corn, soybean and tobacco farm in Kentucky. He holds a degree in agriculture from Western Kentucky University and specializes in crop scouting. He is passionate about helping farmers make the right decisions for their operations.

Agronomy Sales Manager - David has been with Southern States for over 40 years. He specializes in crop protectants, seed, and plant nutrition and provides crop management for his customers.

Springfield Agronomy Center

Agronomy Sales Manager - Mike, a member of the Southern States team for over 21 years, grew up on a row crop and livestock farm in Kentucky. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in agronomy/agriculture education and is a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA).

Agronomy Sales Manager & Applicator – Chad grew up on a 300-acre row crow farm and worked on small dairy growing up. He has worked for Southern States for over 21 years, specializing in pasture and row crops. He is passionate about building relationships with his growers.

Owensboro Agronomy Center

Agronomy Sales Manager – Greg has worked for Southern States for over 32 years. He was raised on a tobacco and cattle farm and is passionate about helping his customers achieve higher yields and better efficiency. He holds an accounting degree from Sullivan Junior College of Business.

Stephen "Red" Smith
Cambellsville Agronomy Center

Territory Sales Manager – Stephen was born and raised on a farm where he and his family raised Holstein heifers, hay and sweet corn. He’s a member of the Taylor County Cattleman’s Association and specializes in scouting corn, soybeans, and hay production. He’s worked for Southern States for over 5 years.

Matt Walden
Breck Agronomy

Agronomy Operations Manager – Matt has been with Southern States for over 9 years, specializing in agronomy and cattle nutrition. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in animal science with a minor in chemistry, and a Master’s degree in agriculture. Before Southern States, Matt worked for a veterinarian for 9 years and had a beef cattle operation for 10 years. He grew up on a cow calf operation with over 300 acres and 100 cows. He’s very involved in the community as a member of the Kentucky Cattleman’s Association, Breck County Cattleman’s Association, Kentucky Farm Bureau, and United Producers Livestock Board.

Rick Winn
Richmond Agronomy Center

Territory Sales Manager – Rick was born and raised on a beef cattle farm and has been with Southern States for over 39 years. He earned a degree in business management from Eastern Kentucky University and is a member of the Madison County Beef Cattle Association. Rick specializes in agronomy, beef cattle, hay and pasture and is passionate about finding new and innovative ways to help farmers address everyday obstacles they face on the farm.

Agronomy Sales Manager - Alan is a former farmer who had his own farm operation for nearly 30 years. He was a member of the FFA in high school and graduated college at Western Kentucky University with a degree in ag business. He is passionate about helping his customers maximize their yield and profits.

Mike Midkiff
Mount Airy Agronomy Center

Agronomy Operations Manager – Mike was raised on a tobacco, soybean, hay and beef cattle farm operation. He’s been working in the farm industry since 1983, starting off at Farmers Cooperative Exchange before spending the last 33 years at Southern States. He has won a number of awards and accolades, including: 3x Presidential Award for Operating Excellence, Manager of the Year Services, 2x Regional Store Manager of the Year, Top Net Promoter Service Award, and Best Operating Store Award. Mike specializes in Production Agriculture: Flue Cured Tobacco, Corn, Soybeans and Livestock Production.
